Simply Stories - The story of a Podcast

Several months ago, I was reading a familiar passage about Jesus, where He appeared to the two men on the road to Emmaus. I love this passage because it is so unique. Jesus has risen from the dead, Mary has seen Him, but His resurrection to most everyone else is still a wonderful idea laced with hope and a confusing mystery still freshly wrapped in grief.

.

Two friends are talking through it all together, when Jesus joins them on the road, they don’t realize it is Him, and He inquires about their emotional conversation. I love that Jesus allows them to tell their story. They share their pain, their confusion and their hope with Him. When they are finished, He says, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?’ And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself.” (Luke 24:25-27).

.

He listened to their story, and then He reminded them of His story. When I read that, it struck me how often God uses storytelling to meet us where we are. Not just in this instance, but throughout scripture. And that, my friends, is where this new podcast was born. From the heart of knowing that we are all walking journeys that are confusing, emotionally charged and we need to spend time telling our stories to each other and the story of our Savior.
